The ARD Germany Trend survey reveals a clear demand: the majority calls for more investment in heat protection. Only nine percent reject this. Two-thirds of respondents have great or very great fear that climate change will destroy livelihoods. Women are significantly more affected at 74 percent than men at 59 percent.
For the representative survey, 1,317 eligible voters aged 18 and over were surveyed by phone and online from June 29 to July 1. 59 percent of Germans see industry as primarily responsible for climate protection. 38 percent support a CO₂ tax, while 54 percent reject it.
The federal government’s pension reform convinces only about half of the people. 52 percent do not believe that the expert commission’s proposals will make pensions more sustainable. Support is given to the plan to include self-employed people, politicians, and board members of stock corporations in the statutory pension insurance: 84 percent consider this correct. A funded supplementary pension with higher contributions from employees and employers is supported by 56 percent.
Rejection is met by linking the retirement age to life expectancy (63 percent against) and abolishing the pension at 63 (70 percent against). 48 percent of Germans worry about financial problems in old age. Even greater are concerns about Germany as a business location: 78 percent express great or very great concerns here.
