Donald Trump had announced he would call Vladimir Putin after meeting Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the NATO summit. But the call never happened, causing nervousness in the Kremlin, according to 24tv.ua.

Former US Donald Trump had announced after his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the NATO summit that he would call Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin that evening. According to 24tv.ua, the Kremlin later reported that the call did not take place. This caused unrest in Moscow.

Ukrainian presidential advisor Mykhailo Podoljak told 24tv.ua that the US has currently chosen a ‘strategy of indifference’ toward Russia. This attitude is causing panic in Putin and his circle. ‘They are sitting by the phone waiting,’ Podoljak said. He emphasized that indifference toward a phone call with Putin is the right tactic.

According to Podoljak, Russia had hoped for a neutral position from the White House to continue the war against Ukraine. Instead, Putin must be influenced through sanctions, an expansion of combat operations on Russian territory, and targeted information and diplomatic work.
