The United States remains open to negotiations with Iran even after the end of the ceasefire, according to Donald Trump. Mediators from Qatar are reportedly en route to Tehran for talks.

A US official told CNN that while the US government frequently receives such warnings, the Israeli one was new and contained a concrete assassination plot. Details of the plan were not immediately disclosed. In recent days, the US military has launched several waves of strikes against targets in Iran, citing attacks on merchant ships that Washington attributes to Tehran.

The war began after Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his office in Tehran on February 28. Since then, despite the ceasefire and a framework agreement, there have been repeated mutual attacks. Khamenei’s son Mojtaba was appointed as the new head of state but has not appeared publicly since.
