After a freight train derailed in Nidderau, the railway line between Friedberg and Hanau will remain closed until at least August 7. The Hessische Landesbahn (HLB) announced that a replacement bus service will be set up.

A freight train derailed last Thursday at Nidderau station in the Main-Kinzig district. Wagons of a car train were dragged for around 450 meters, damaging the track bed and a platform. No one was injured, according to the Federal Police.

The Hessische Landesbahn (HLB) announced on its website that the line between Friedberg and Hanau will remain closed until at least August 7. A Deutsche Bahn spokesperson said work is still ongoing on the line. Cancelled trains will be replaced by an hourly bus service. Bicycles cannot be taken on the buses, and some replacement stops are not directly next to the platforms. Passengers are asked to follow signage at the stations.

The cause of the derailment is still being investigated.
