The latest Lünendonk study, “The Market for IT Services in Germany,” shows that IT security is the most important investment area for the next two years, cited by 92 percent of respondents. The study attributes this to new AI-driven attack methods and stricter regulatory requirements.
74 percent of surveyed companies plan to modernize their existing IT landscape. This is followed by digital training (70 percent), and digital sovereignty and system integration, each at 69 percent. For data and analytics, 66 percent plan higher spending, while AI ranks only sixth at 64 percent.
The study emphasizes that AI is nevertheless permeating all areas of corporate IT, moving from pilot projects into regular operations. The greatest efficiency potential is seen in software development (83 percent), followed by cybersecurity (80 percent) and IT support (70 percent).
As AI applications scale, cost pressure on tokens and licenses grows, prompting companies to more closely monitor economic benefits. Over 100 IT service providers and more than 200 IT managers from mid-sized and large enterprises were surveyed.
