A Beethoven concert free for under-14s, a space-suit exhibition and a €1 museum on Sunday: what families can do in Munich on 10–11 October, with prices and times.

There are at least four ways to spend the weekend with children in Munich without spending much. The concert at Bergson is free for under-14s, the museum in Nymphenburg costs €1 on Sundays, and the family ticket at the Flugwerft Schleißheim is €19.

A concert where children sing and solve riddles

Bergson Kunstkraftwerk (Am Bergson Kunstkraftwerk 2, 81245 Munich) stages the interactive family concert “Balduin und die Klassik”, a Beethoven adventure for children. Theatre producer Balduin is looking for a new star because his audience has stopped coming, and hears about Ludwig van Beethoven. The audience solves puzzles, sings and laughs along; Haydn and Mozart appear too, with piano, violin, viola and cello. It lasts about an hour.

Shows: Saturday 14:30 (doors 14:00) and 16:30, Sunday 11:00 (doors 10:30). A standard ticket costs €28; children under 14 get in free thanks to Stadtsparkasse München. Tickets are booked at bergson.com, and the organiser gives no recommended age. Accompanying adults pay: two adults come to €56, the children to nothing (our calculation from the organiser’s prices).

Space suits and waste sorting you can try yourself

The Flugwerft Schleißheim (Effnerstr. 18, 85764 Oberschleißheim), a branch of the Deutsches Museum, hosts “Inside the Suit – Der Mensch im Raumanzug” until 30 November: suits and helmets, including a training suit of a Soviet cosmonaut from the Tereshkova era, and a station showing how tiring it is to move in a space suit. Open daily 9:00–17:00. Adults pay €9, children and teenagers aged 6–17 €6, children up to 5 nothing. The family ticket is €19 (up to two adults with their own children under 18); for two adults and two schoolchildren that is €19 instead of €30 (our calculation). Getting there: S1 to Oberschleißheim, then about 15 minutes on foot.

The Museum Mensch und Natur in the north wing of Nymphenburg Palace (80638 Munich) shows “Jetzt geht’s rund – Kreisläufe statt Abfälle” until 10 January 2027: visitors can design a sustainable sneaker and try different ways of sorting waste. At weekends it opens 10:00–18:00. Adults pay €3.50, children and young people up to 18 nothing, and on Sundays admission is €1. Take tram 17 or bus 51 or 151 to Schloss Nymphenburg.

What if the child wants theatre?

The Münchner Theater für Kinder (Dachauer Straße 46, 80335 Munich) plays both days: Saturday at 10:00 “Oh, wie schön ist Panama” and at 15:00 “Kalif Storch” (age 6+); Sunday at 10:00 “Schneewittchen und die 7 Zwerge” (age 4+) and at 15:00 “Die kleine Zauberflöte”. Performances are in German. The city listings give no prices; they are shown at muenchenticket.de. Marionettentheater Bille puts on “Rotkäppchen” on Saturday at 15:00, age 3+.

For a trip out of town, Kloster Andechs (Bergstr. 2, 82346 Andechs) holds its Kinder- und Familientag on Saturday 10 October: bungee trampoline, face painting, giant soap bubbles, children’s folk-costume groups, the Malteser search-dog unit and a youth fire brigade. The announcement gives neither an admission price nor the hours of the day; the family service is at 16:45. The page also mentions another date (3 October), so call the organisers before setting off: +49 8152 376 247.

If you count every euro, Sunday at the Museum Mensch und Natur is cheapest; for schoolchildren, we think the Flugwerft with the family ticket offers the best value. Programmes and times can change, so check the organiser’s page before leaving.
