The military administration of the Donetsk region has extended the mandatory evacuation of families with children to all locations in the Kramatorsk and Sloviansk urban communities in Kramatorsk Raion. This was announced by the regional governor, Vadym Filashkin, on social media, as the news outlet Ukrainska Pravda reported on Thursday.

“We are expanding the zone of mandatory evacuation of families with children – it now covers all locations in the Kramatorsk and Sloviansk communities,” Ukrainska Pravda quotes Filashkin as saying. The security situation is constantly deteriorating. Russia attacks Kramatorsk and Sloviansk daily, hitting residential areas, civilian vehicles and places where people gather. “Staying there with children is an unacceptable risk.”

The governor addressed parents directly: they should not put their children in danger and should not wait until a Russian attack happens next to their home. “Evacuate now.” Specialised units of the police and the State Emergency Service (DSNS) are involved in the evacuation. After arriving at a transit point, families would be supported in relocating further to safer regions of Ukraine, Filashkin said.

The head of the Sloviansk military administration, Vadym Liakh, called the decision correct and important, according to the news agency Interfax-Ukraine. He noted that two children had been injured in Sloviansk the day before alone. Liakh urged parents not to postpone departure; the lives and health of children must take priority.
