Mangfalltalbahn: Regular train service expected from end of June 2026

As Deutsche Bahn reports, regular train service on the Mangfalltalbahn is expected to resume from the end of June 2026. The reason for the months-long interruption is the extensive repair of a softened railway embankment.

As Deutsche Bahn (DB) reports, regular train service on the Mangfalltalbahn is expected to be possible again from the end of June 2026. The line has been interrupted for some time due to damage to a railway embankment. DB InfraGO, the subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn responsible for rail infrastructure, is currently carrying out extensive repair work.

According to Deutsche Bahn, the embankment was softened by persistent rainfall, leading to a risk to its stability. The repair work is complex, as the embankment must be rehabilitated and stabilized in sections. In addition, DB InfraGO is renewing switch components in the towns of Bruckmühl and Heufeld to ensure operational safety after the restart.

The Mangfalltalbahn connects Munich with Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria and is operated by Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB). Since the line closure, passengers have had to use replacement bus services. Deutsche Bahn expects that the construction work will be completed on schedule by the end of June 2026, allowing regular train service to resume.

The exact costs of the repair have not been disclosed by Deutsche Bahn. The work is coordinated by DB InfraGO, which is responsible for the maintenance and modernization of the German rail network. The Mangfalltalbahn is an important local transport link in the greater Munich area and is used daily by thousands of commuters.

Deutsche Bahn asks passengers for understanding regarding the restrictions and recommends checking current timetable information before traveling. Further details on the construction work and replacement services are available on the Deutsche Bahn website.
