Emergency blackouts were imposed in Kyiv on Sunday morning because of continuing Russian attacks on the energy system. The energy supplier DTEK announced this in its Telegram channel, according to the news agency Ukrinform.

“Kyiv: because of the constant shelling of the energy system, emergency blackouts were applied,” Ukrinform quotes the statement as saying. Energy workers are working to restore the damaged facilities as soon as the security situation allows, the statement continues. DTEK said: “We are doing everything possible to bring electricity back to the people of Kyiv as quickly as possible.”

Already on the evening of 30 October, power outages had occurred in Kyiv at several critical infrastructure facilities as a result of an air strike by Russian troops, Ukrinform reports. The news outlet Slovo i Dilo reports, citing DTEK, that on 30 October three strikes were recorded on a critical infrastructure facility; because several such facilities were shut down, there were disruptions to the water supply. On 31 October, the power outages in the capital were increased.
