The 17-year-old suspect is accused, according to the public prosecutor's office, of planning a bombing attack targeting an unspecified number of "infidels" in a shopping center, a bar, or a police station in Hamburg. The exact details of his attack plans are currently unclear. Special forces from the Hamburg police arrested the teenager on Thursday and secured several suspicious items during a search of his apartment.

Among the materials seized were universal fertilizer and liquid grill lighter, which can be used to create explosives and Molotov cocktails. Additionally, the suspect had acquired a balaclava and a knife. The public prosecutor's office believes that the teenager planned the act alone and was inspired by the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS).

The Federal Intelligence Service received a tip-off about the alleged plans of the 17-year-old at the beginning of last week. The teenager was already known to the authorities, as he was under investigation for allegedly using IS symbols. A psychiatric evaluation of the accused has already been ordered in another investigation.
