2026 World Cup: Sportschau to broadcast 46 group stage matches live in audio

Germany's Sportschau will offer extensive audio coverage of the 2026 World Cup, broadcasting 46 of the 72 group stage matches live, including all games of the German and Turkish national teams as well as those of defending champion Argentina and top favorites.

You can listen to the most important matches of the 2026 World Cup live, free of charge, and in full length without interruptions on Sportschau – especially convenient in the car. With the Sportschau app optimized for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, this is also easy on the go. Sportschau will broadcast 46 of the 72 group stage matches live in audio – including all games of the German and Turkish national teams as well as all group matches of defending champion Argentina and top favorites Brazil, France, Spain, Portugal, and England. All commentaries are offered over the full match duration without interruptions for music, advertisements, or news. You can find the audio streams in the ARD Sounds app, the Sportschau app, on sportschau.de, and on smart speakers such as Amazon Alexa. In the knockout rounds, Sportschau will also accompany the most important matches live. From the quarterfinals onward, all matches will be broadcast.

All emotions directly into your ear: Our reporters are live for you at every match in the stadium and deliver all game scenes and emotions up close. Sportschau’s live audio offering begins ten minutes before kickoff. Our moderation team provides you with all the information about the match, the most important news from the German national team camp, and everything interesting surrounding the World Cup.

The offering on Sportschau.de and in the app: On sportschau.de and in the app, the streams can be found in the Sportschau live center (menu: Live & Results). Next to the respective match, an audio symbol is displayed, which can be used to play the audio stream. During the matches, the streams of the individual matches are also accessible via the ticker of the respective match. Here, a button with the audio symbol and “LIVE AUDIO” appears, leading to the live commentary.

Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Android Automotive: If you have installed the Sportschau app on your smartphone, you can also use the Sportschau audio offering via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. To do so, connect your mobile device to your car via one of the two services, and you will also find the Sportschau app on your vehicle’s display. There, you will get all ongoing audio commentaries easily accessible and clearly arranged. Additionally, you can listen to all Sportschau podcasts. If you have a vehicle equipped with the Android Automotive operating system, you can download the Sportschau app there and conveniently listen to the Sportschau audio commentaries and podcasts for the World Cup. You also have the option to subscribe to the goal alert there.
