The full closure of the A7 began on Friday evening and affects the section between the Hamburg-Stellingen and Heimfeld junctions in both directions, including the Elbtunnel. The route will remain closed until Monday at 5 a.m. The reason is construction work on the new tunnel control center, into which the operating technology of the Elbtunnel will be integrated, according to Autobahn Nord.
At the same time, the Köhlbrandbrücke is also fully closed due to repair and maintenance work. Autobahn GmbH is also using the full closure for work on the Altona noise protection tunnel and the K20 Elbmarsch elevated road. For long-distance traffic, the authority recommends a wide detour via the A1, A21, and B205. Large and heavy goods vehicles cannot use the route.
Additional traffic disruptions are expected due to closures in the Altes Land and Finkenwerder areas as well as demonstrations in Hamburg’s city center. Drivers should follow the detour recommendations and allow plenty of time.
