Parliamentary elections began in Armenia on Sunday, June 7. After casting his ballot, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on the strained relations with Russia and referred to recent threats by Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin regarding the fate of Ukraine, as reported by 24tv.
Pashinyan made it clear that relations with Moscow are under pressure. The elections are seen as a directional choice between rapprochement with the West and the traditional bond with Russia. Observers expect the outcome could also influence Armenia’s stance on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
