A 26-year-old railway employee fell from a moving train during an altercation on Friday evening, sustaining life-threatening injuries.
According to the prosecutor’s office, a 36-year-old man allegedly punched and kicked the employee during a ticket inspection. During the conflict, the train door gave way and the employee fell out of the moving train. It remains unclear why the door opened.
The Karlsruhe District Court rejected the requested arrest warrant, also due to questionable surveillance footage. According to the court, the video was reviewed by the arrest judge shortly after the incident. The footage raised doubts about the exact sequence of events, the court said without providing details.
The prosecutor’s office had requested an arrest warrant for assault.
