Luis Díaz of FC Bayern Munich is among the standout players at the football World Cup. Colombia’s national coach Nestor Lorenzo emphasized this, highlighting the forward as a leader and role model for the entire team. The coach raved about the performances of the 29-year-old Díaz.
Díaz, who moved from Liverpool to Bayern a year ago for around €70 million, has established himself as a key player in Colombia’s national team. At the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, he has so far impressed with consistently strong performances. The coach particularly praised his attitude and commitment to the team.
“Lucho Díaz is already a leader for Colombia — not only through his playing style but also through his character, his humility, his dedication, and his role model function,” Lorenzo said. “Bringing players to top clubs is one of our goals. Hopefully, this World Cup will catapult many players to the world elite and help us reach the level of other national teams.”
An example is full-back Daniel Muñoz, who won the Conference League with Crystal Palace and has already scored two goals at this World Cup: “He is a modern full-back, very much in the mold of the world’s best. Thank God he plays for Colombia,” his coach said.
