The International Comic-Salon in Erlangen in 2026 will feature over 200 individual events. Visitors can watch around 600 artists at work, as the Tagesspiegel reports. The festival for comic art and graphic literature takes place from June 4 to 7.

Two of the 19 exhibitions have already opened. Kunstpalais is showing a retrospective of the renowned German illustrator Christoph Niemann. The Stadtmuseum presents the first major retrospective of Walter Moers in southern Germany. Another exhibition at the Kunstmuseum is dedicated to comic pioneer Isabel Kreitz. Simpsons will also be celebrated.

The highlight of the salon is the awarding of the “Max and Moritz Prize,” the most important award for graphic literature in the German-speaking world. Twenty-five titles are nominated. British artist Posy Simmonds, known internationally for graphic novels such as “Gemma Bovery,” will be honored for her lifetime achievement.
