The DAX starts the new week on an optimistic note, as easing inflation concerns and a strong earnings season drive the index. According to Tagesschau, the DAX is expected to open 0.2 percent higher at 26,495 points before Xetra trading begins.

The DAX remains close to its record high at the start of the week: easing inflation concerns and a strong earnings season have recently driven the leading index from record to record. The chance of further gains remains. On Friday, the DAX closed up 0.5 percent at 26,440 points and reached an all-time high of 26,573 points last week.

Overall, the weekly gain was around 0.5 percent, marking the fourth consecutive week of gains for the stock market barometer. The DAX has thus expanded its annual gain to nearly eight percent. The positive development is supported by easing inflation and interest rate concerns, while corporate earnings are strong enough to continue supporting prices.

However, the situation in the Persian Gulf could again throw the stock market into turmoil, as energy prices remain high. Currently, hopes for a quick agreement between the US and Iran are fading, increasing uncertainty.
