According to Deutschlandfunk, the foreign ministers of the so-called E4 states – Germany, France, Britain and Italy – have reacted positively to the announcement of a framework agreement between the US and Iran. The deal is intended to form the basis for further negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and regional security issues.
German Friedrich Merz (CDU) described the development as encouraging. He sees a path to global economic recovery and stabilization of the region, Deutschlandfunk quoted the chancellor as saying. The US and Iran had previously published a surprise declaration of intent aimed at a diplomatic solution to the long-standing conflict.
EuroPulse reported on June 14, 2026, about Merz’s tribute to the Bundeswehr at a public swearing-in ceremony in Medebach (https://europulse.today/bundeswehr-geloebnis-merz-medebach/).
