The indictment is based on investigations by the US Department of Justice. According to the charges, the men intended to use drones loaded with explosives around the arena to force an evacuation. Then snipers were to fire at “high-value targets” in the fleeing crowd. If convicted, the suspects face life in prison.
Initially, authorities reported seven arrests. This week, an additional suspect was taken into custody in West Virginia – a 21-year-old who was designated as a sniper. The charges include conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, conspiracy to murder within the territorial jurisdiction of the government, and conspiracy to murder a government official.
