Flensburg shopkeeper convicted for incitement to hatred

A shopkeeper in Flensburg displayed a sign in his window banning Jews from entering his store. The Flensburg district court has now sentenced him to a suspended prison sentence for incitement to hatred, as reported by Tagesschau.

The Flensburg district court issued the verdict on Tuesday. The man had placed the notice in his shop window, forbidding Jews from entering his store. The public prosecutor’s office had filed charges for incitement to hatred.

The court imposed a suspended prison sentence, the length of which was not disclosed. The verdict is not yet final – the convicted man can appeal. The case had caused outrage in Flensburg and beyond.
