On Friday evening, an incident occurred near Markt Einersheim where a freight train crashed into a concrete piece on the tracks. The train was traveling at about 100 kilometers per hour when the engineer noticed the obstacle and initiated an emergency brake. Despite the high speed, the damage was minimal, and there were no injuries.

Investigators from the Federal Police Inspection in Würzburg have launched an inquiry. According to initial information, the obstacle was a concrete piece measuring approximately 60 by 80 centimeters, resembling a cable duct and weighing at least 100 kilograms. The police suspect that the concrete piece may have been deliberately placed on the tracks.

“Deliberate placement of the concrete obstacle cannot be ruled out,” stated the Federal Police. The incident has had noticeable effects on rail traffic in the region, although the train was able to continue its journey later. Investigators are now seeking witnesses who can provide information about the incident.
