Greece plans to ban e-scooters for children and teenagers under 17. Deputy Transport Minister Giorgos Kotsiras announced a corresponding tightening of the law.

The planned tightening follows numerous e-scooter accidents in which children and teenagers were injured. Kotsiras told Skai TV that statistics show higher accident rates among under-17s. The draft law includes not only a usage ban but also higher fines for unsafe riding and mandatory accident insurance.

The law is to be voted on Tuesday. If passed, Greece would have one of the strictest regulations internationally. In Germany, teenagers can use e-scooters from age 14, and similar age limits apply in other European countries.
