The 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico continues. On the night of June 13-14 at 04:00 Kyiv time (03:00 CET), the two underdogs of Group C, Haiti and Scotland, will face off in Boston. Both teams are rare guests on the world stage.
For Scotland, this is the first World Cup appearance since 1998. Back then, the team was eliminated in the group stage. In the following decades, the Tartan Army narrowly missed qualification each time – in 2022, they lost in the playoffs to Ukraine. This time, however, Steve Clarke’s side prevailed in a strong group: they left Greece behind and snatched the direct ticket from Denmark in the final match with a spectacular bicycle kick by Scott McTominay.
Haiti is considered the clear underdog of the group. For the Caribbean team, participating in the World Cup is a rarity. Many observers rate the team as an “easy opponent” for the other group participants. Scotland, on the other hand, has a good chance of starting the tournament with a win and celebrating its first World Cup success in decades.
