Idris Elba has commented extensively for the first time on speculation that he could be the next James Bond. The 53-year-old Briton told FAZ that he considers the rumors exaggerated and warned against making the casting ‘woke.’ A Black man as 007 would not be well received everywhere, Elba said.
The actor emphasized that while he understands the discussion about diversity in Hollywood, a role should not be recast solely for that reason. He himself has never officially auditioned for the part. The rumors have flared up repeatedly in recent years after Daniel Craig stepped down as Bond.
