The 29-year-old Berlin rapper Ikkimel, real name Melina Gaby Strauß, presented her song ‘Fußballmänner’ on ZDF’s ‘Morgenmagazin’ on Monday. The track includes lines such as: ‘Fußballmänner, alles Penner. Bierbauch, Bratwurst, leckerschmecker’ and ‘Lattenkracher, Mertesacker, Tiki-Taka in ‘nem Tanga.’ The performance ended with a cheerful ‘Good morning, ‘Moma’!’ and a giggle from the artist.
Host Micky Beisenherz commented on the performance on Instagram as ‘of such grotesque comedy’ and compared it to Hape Kerkeling’s legendary TV prank ‘Hurz.’ The presenters Andreas Wunn and Philip Wortmann had previously introduced Ikkimel with a classification: while some celebrated her as a feminist, others accused her of ‘partly vulgar misandry.’ After the performance, Wunn directly addressed male viewers: ‘Dear football men, don’t be offended. That’s provocation and art and it’s hitting a nerve with Gen Z.’
Ikkimel, who became known for songs like ‘Keta und Krawall’ and has more than two million monthly listeners on Spotify, recently released a new album. Tracks on it such as ‘Wanderhure,’ ‘Facesitting,’ and ‘Kink’ underscore her provocative style, which she describes as ‘cheeky, feminine, and hot.’
