The police in Cherkasy have identified a 57-year-old man who fired shots on May 9 after children were picking lilacs near his home. According to investigators, the man initially attempted to chase the children before retrieving a firearm from his house and shooting at them. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

The identification of the perpetrator was made through the analysis of video footage that the police reviewed as part of their investigation. The incident was discovered during social media monitoring, which led to a swift response from the authorities.

The police have drawn up an administrative protocol against the man for minor hooliganism under Article 173 of the Ukrainian Code of Administrative Offenses. The documents have been forwarded to the court.
