Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that around 430 drones were launched from Ukraine toward Moscow overnight into Tuesday. Sobyanin stated on social media that most were neutralized by air defense at a great distance. 36 enemy drones were destroyed on approach to Moscow. The claims cannot be independently verified; Kyiv has not yet commented.
The attack came shortly before the NATO summit in Turkey. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been invited to the meeting. The military alliance’s deliberations are also expected to address further support for Kyiv. The summit must not produce only “empty words” but more protection for Ukraine, Zelensky said in his evening video address on Monday.
