Tuesday brings reduced ride prices at the autumn Dult. Free entry, open daily 10am–7pm until Sunday: how to get there, tips for parents, what is on.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 20 October, is Family Day at Munich’s autumn Auer Dult fair: prices in the funfair area are reduced. The city does not say by how much, so check the price boards at the carousel and Ferris wheel. The Dult runs until Sunday 25 October, daily from 10am to 7pm, with rides opening at 10.30am.

Entry to the fair on Mariahilfplatz in the Au district is free. You pay only for what you try: rides, shooting galleries, food and shopping. For children there is a kids’ carousel, dodgems, a chain-swing ride and the historic 1925 Ferris wheel, plus a Kasperl puppet theatre; the city’s page gives no times or prices for the show. For a calmer visit, stroll through the market of crockery, toys, traditional costume, spices and jams, or the “Neuheiten-Gasse”, where traders demo kitchen and household gadgets.

Useful for parents: there are changing and nursing spaces, pram parking, benches and an accessible toilet. Two drinking-water fountains are free, one opposite the Mariahilfkirche on Rupert-Stöckl-Platz and one by the Dult office on Liesl-Karlstadt-Platz. Bring cash, because not every stall takes cards.

Leave the car at home: there is no regular parking around the square. Tram 18 stops right at Mariahilfplatz, buses 52 and 62 at Schweigerstraße, and you can walk from the U-Bahn at Kolumbusplatz (U1/U2) or Fraunhoferstraße (U2). Check live connections with MVG.

The Mariahilfkirche is a warm refuge: a ten-minute midday meditation every day at noon, and a free 20-minute “Orgel um Drei” organ recital at 3pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays. An extra organ concert follows on Saturday 24 October at 7.15pm.

Food ranges from Steckerlfisch (fish grilled on a stick) and roast chicken to sausages, Flammkuchen, Dampfnudeln, roasted almonds and glazed apples. The Dult shows how Munich can be affordable on autumn weekends: no entry fee, and a small budget for two or three rides keeps an afternoon with children predictable. Our rule of thumb, not the city’s: to make the most of Family Day, go in the morning when it is quieter.

If you miss it, the next one is the Maidult, 24 April to 2 May 2027. The city’s “Dult ist Kult!” vouchers, worth €10 each, are valid at all three Dult fairs for three years and are sold at the tourist information offices in the Rathaus and at the main station, and online.
