The Süddeutsche Zeitung summarizes the most important Munich news of the day. Three events are in focus: the attack on the Eclipse restaurant, a legal dispute over Oktoberfest tents, and a brutal assault by a headhunter.

US authorities have arrested the suspected mastermind of the attack on the Eclipse restaurant. The man is said to belong to a pro-Iranian terrorist group that had claimed responsibility for further acts in Europe. Investigators were able to track him down, as the Süddeutsche Zeitung reports.

The city of Munich has won a dispute over Oktoberfest tents – a court ruled that the festival halls do not have to be tendered Europe-wide. Nevertheless, the city is not allowed to award the contracts for the upcoming Oktoberfest. The exact reasons for this remain unclear for now.

A headhunter has been sentenced to nine years in prison in Munich. Thomas R. had beaten two elderly women with a wine bottle and his fists after a night of alcohol and drugs. The random victims still suffer from the consequences. The court spoke of a “shockingly senseless and massive act” and convicted him of attempted murder.
