Benjamin Netanyahu intends to run again in the upcoming parliamentary election, as reported by Deutschlandfunk. Netanyahu is seeking another term despite currently facing court proceedings on corruption charges.
Netanyahu is Israel’s longest-serving head of government. His right-wing religious coalition had to contend with the attack by the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas on Israel in October 2023. Since then, Israel has been waging a war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The next parliamentary election in Israel is regularly scheduled for 2026. However, Netanyahu could push for early elections to consolidate his political position.
