Olivia Rodrigo has released her third album, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love,” as reported by Die Zeit. The record was originally intended to show the cheerful side of being in love, but the review rates it as not entirely successful in that regard, though good overall. Rodrigo herself seems aware of the ambivalence: the title hints at a melancholic mood.

The album features a special collaboration: at the Primavera Festival, Rodrigo sang the song “What’s Wrong With Me” together with Robert Smith, the lead singer of The Cure. It is her first feature outside of Disney. Smith and Rodrigo had already performed together last summer at Glastonbury, including “Friday I’m in Love” and “Just Like Heaven.” Now their extraordinary voices blend perfectly in a co-written song.

With this album, Rodrigo deliberately turns to rock—a direction also explored by other pop stars like Machine Gun Kelly or Charli XCX, though usually only as a detour. Rodrigo, however, seeks proximity to a rock legend. The review praises the musical quality but criticizes that the initial idea of showing the cheerful side of love was not fully realized. Instead, heartbreak dominates once again—a theme Rodrigo has already processed on her earlier albums.

EuroPulse reported on June 12, 2026, about the debate surrounding Rodrigo’s babydoll dress and her girlish staging (https://europulse.today/olivia-rodrigo-babydoll-kleid-debatte/).
