Rapper Haftbefehl, whose real name is Aykut Anhan, has announced a break from performing. In a statement on Instagram, he wrote that he is ‘not emotionally or physically in a condition to perform.’ The intense attention following the Netflix documentary ‘Babo – The Haftbefehl Story’ has added to his strain. He now needs rest and time to focus on his health.
At the end of April, Haftbefehl had already performed a short set at the season opening in Mallorca’s Megapark – a brief appearance of about ten minutes during which he mostly held the microphone out to the crowd. In early June, he then canceled his performance at the World Club Dome in Frankfurt on short notice.
It is unclear which concerts exactly are affected by the cancellations. According to the organizer, the planned arena shows in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Berlin in September are still scheduled to take place. Tickets for the arena tour remain available.
Several celebrities reacted to the statement. Rapper Massiv wished him ‘lots of strength and health,’ Samra sent ‘lots of strength, habibi! You can do this.’ Host Kai Pflaume commented: ‘Rest well. You are still needed.’ In an Instagram story, Haftbefehl emphasized that he does not blame anyone for his situation – neither the documentary nor other people. ‘Before anything is misunderstood: I do not blame anyone for my current situation, neither the documentary nor other people.’
