The restoration of the west facade of the Parthenon on the Acropolis in Athens has been successfully completed after about 200 years. The outer scaffolding has been removed, making the facade fully visible again, according to Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni.

As part of the work, two reconstructed columns were installed and a retaining wall was restored. Mendoni described the completion as a significant moment for the monument and for international heritage conservation. The restoration work was technically very demanding and required the highest precision.

The first renovation work began in the mid-19th century. The goal was to restore the architectural integrity of the pediment as much as possible. Parts of the ancient elements were preserved and reused, while missing parts were supplemented with new marble.
