Rod Stewart, 81, suffered a health scare on stage in Utah on Friday night. Videos of the performance, shared by US outlet TMZ, show Stewart doubling over in pain and repeatedly grabbing stage equipment. A staff member then brought an oxygen tank to the edge of the stage.
As the musician breathed deeply with the extra oxygen, the audience continued to applaud loudly. “The show must go on,” Stewart said, joking: “I tried to give you some dance moves here, and I damn near passed out.” He asked the crowd, laughing: “Do you mind if I sit down for a moment?” Loud cheers confirmed the veteran rocker to continue playing. Stewart finished the performance relaxed, sitting on a chair.
After having to cancel some concerts, Stewart had addressed his fans on social media: “I’m so sorry, my friends. I am devastated and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience I have caused my fans. I will return to the stage, and we’ll see you again soon – Sir Rod💔.” He is apparently keeping this promise until his last breath.
