As reported by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Paulaner brewery and the new trio of landlords Clara Schleifer, Maurice Löw, and Michael Zacharski have announced the reopening of the Rosengarten in Westpark. The three come from the event agency that most recently managed the gastronomic interim use of the Gasteig. After that project ended in the fall, they found a new long-term venue in the Rosengarten.
The concept: The beer garden is to become a “cultural garden” for young and old – with a bar, kiosk, and a stage for music. There will be no admission fee for events and no obligation to consume. “We want to rethink the beer garden,” says Löw. The number of seats has been deliberately reduced from around 2,400 to about 600 in order to elevate the cuisine to a higher level. The menu focuses on regional ingredients, but not necessarily Bavarian – alongside classics like Obazda (10.90 euros) and roast pork (17.90 euros), there is an oyster mushroom schnitzel (16.90 euros) and vegan desserts.
The beer garden opens daily from 10 a.m. starting this Saturday; hot meals are available from 4 p.m. on weekdays and from 11:30 a.m. on weekends. The restaurant in the pavilion with around 100 seats is to follow in the fall. An official opening celebration is planned for June 20. During the World Cup, Germany’s matches and selected knockout round games will be shown on a large screen.
