Sony's new premium headphones, the 1000X The Collexion, cost 629 euros, making them the manufacturer's most expensive current model. They impress with elegant design and spatial sound.

The 1000X The Collexion is Sony’s new premium headphone, costing 629 euros — 259 euros more than the previous flagship WH-1000XM6. The design is based on the XM6 but looks more exclusive: the earcups are covered with a finely structured artificial leather that, according to Sony, required two years of development and looks deceptively real. The stainless steel headband is sandblasted and partially polished.

In testing, the headphones impressed with high wearing comfort and excellent noise cancellation, effectively blocking engine noise and voices. Battery life is 32 hours without and 24 hours with ANC — average values. The sound character is soft and spatial, taking the edge off high frequencies without causing fatigue even after hours. Particularly impressive is the realistic reproduction of voices and instruments, for example on Coralie Clément’s “Ça valait la peine.”

Details include the magnetically closing case in a handbag look and left/right markings on the ear cushions. Unfortunately, there is no USB-C audio option, although a mini-jack cable is included. Call quality is good, the transparency function is solid but not on par with the AirPods Max 2.
