As reported by Digitalfernsehen, Sony has announced it will end support for internet-based applications on 71 older devices. The shutdown affects models released between 2010 and 2016, including Blu-ray players, AV receivers, soundbars, home theater systems, Wi-Fi speakers and media players. Streaming services Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Spotify, Pandora, Slacker Radio, Vudu and Google Cast will be removed from these devices without replacement.

According to official support information from the manufacturer, technical reasons are behind the move. Sony apologizes for the change but cites the discontinuation of network services and app functionality. No update to bring affected devices up to date is planned. Offline functions such as playing discs or local audio sources will remain available.

November 17, 2026, the smart online features can still be used as usual. November 18, 2026, the app icons for Netflix, Spotify and Prime Video will disappear from the menus. Anyone who wants to continue using the hardware for streaming will need to switch to newer devices.
