Lee Jae-myung’s Democratic Party has won a clear victory in South Korea’s local elections. According to FAZ, the party secured nearly every office up for grabs across the country.
The only exception is the capital Seoul, where conservatives prevailed. The election is seen as an important mood test for national politics and confirms Lee’s strong position, having taken office only last year.
