Snotty spoken word, raw garage sound, and pounding beats: these are the trademarks of The Streets. On Tuesday evening, Mike Skinner performed with his music project at the sold-out Columbiahalle in Berlin. According to the Tagesspiegel, the hall turned into a single party mile – the audience celebrated the Brit like a pop star.

Skinner, who has shaped British hip-hop with The Streets for over two decades, relied on a greatest-hits set. Tracks from all five studio albums were featured, including classics like “Dry Your Eyes” and “Fit But You Know It.” The crowd sang along to every line, danced, and jumped – the atmosphere was exuberant.

The highlight of the evening: Skinner let fans carry him through the crowd on their hands. A moment that underscored the close connection between artist and audience. The Tagesspiegel described the show as “party-like” – a concert that resembled less a classic stage show than a shared celebration.

Skinner himself seemed to enjoy the closeness. Again and again he leaned down to the front rows, shook hands, and let himself be celebrated. The Columbiahalle, normally a venue for rock and pop concerts, became a club that evening – with a DJ booth that Skinner himself operated repeatedly.

The concert was part of a small German tour that The Streets completed in June 2026. In tow: the album “A Grand Don’t Come for Free,” which brought the breakthrough twenty years ago. In Berlin, it was the first time Skinner played the songs from it live in Germany – and the audience thanked him with enthusiasm.
