This morning, a truck caught fire on the A2 between Hannover-East and Buchholz. According to the police, the trailer of the truck was engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the truck was not carrying hazardous materials, which alleviated the situation.
The fire department is currently engaged in firefighting and recovery operations. It is still unclear how long these efforts will take. In recent weeks, there have already been several truck fires on the A2, further straining the traffic situation in the region.
In the past, two lanes were extensively repaired after similar incidents when liquid plastic spilled onto the roadway. These measures temporarily led to a complete closure of the route towards Braunschweig.
The current closure has already resulted in significant traffic jams. Drivers are advised to consider alternative routes to avoid delays.
