Two freight trains collided while shunting in Munich early Saturday, causing one train to derail and two wagons to fall from a bridge onto Schleißheimer Straße below.
Police reported one fatality. The wagons were empty and carried no hazardous materials, police said, adding that there was no danger to the public.
Recovery work continued Saturday morning. The duration of the operation and the closure of Schleißheimer Straße was initially unclear; the closure could last until Sunday. The incident is not expected to affect rail traffic.
