According to Spiegel, the 52-year-old Tyra Banks filed a lawsuit against Netflix on Saturday. The subject of the dispute is the documentary ‘Inside American’s Next Top Model,’ which takes a critical look at the casting show. Banks was a producer and hosted the first 22 seasons of the show.
In the lawsuit, Banks accuses the producers of using only 16 minutes of a roughly three-and-a-half-hour interview. She claims the material was edited to support a ‘false and defamatory’ narrative. A significant part of the conversation, in which Banks took self-critical responsibility for controversial incidents on set, was not shown.
Banks is demanding a jury trial and damages. The lawsuit does not specify the amount of the claim. Netflix and the production companies involved have not yet commented.
