Deniz Undav of Stuttgart has recovered from his injury and is available for the German national team for the World Cup opener on Sunday, June 14, against Curaçao. The attacker suffered a painful bruise in the gluteal area during the 4-0 test match win against Finland but was able to give the all-clear after two to three days. The match will be broadcast at 7 p.m. on Das Erste and MagentaTV.

Undav sees himself as flexible – both as a classic striker and as a withdrawn forward. In the national team, Kai Havertz is initially planned as the first option up front, but Undav is confident: ‘When we need goals, I have to score goals. Scoring goals is my job.’ His record in the DFB jersey is strong: in nine international matches, he has scored six goals, statistically every 72 minutes.

Stuttgart player, who was the second-best scorer in the past Bundesliga season with 19 goals behind Harry Kane (36 goals), formulated a clear tournament goal: ‘I want to return to Germany as world champion.’ Off the pitch, Undav also has planning security: he extended his contract with Stuttgart early until mid-2029.
