Donald Trump threatened in an interview to resume major combat operations, saying the strikes so far had not hurt Tehran enough. New operations could be more extensive, though no decision has been made. Over the past twelve nights, the US has struck targets in Iran; Tehran responded with attacks on US bases in the region, and the Houthi militia reported attacks on two oil tankers.
Britain withdrew its remaining diplomats from Iran amid the escalation. The Foreign Office said the embassy continues to work remotely. In June, several EU states, Australia, and New Zealand had already pulled out some personnel.
