The agreement includes lifting the US naval blockade, resuming shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and removing all sanctions against Iran. It also envisions a reconstruction fund of at least $300 billion for Iran, while Tehran reaffirms its commitment not to develop nuclear weapons.
The final deal is to be negotiated within a maximum of 60 days, with an option to extend. Trump warned, however, that the preliminary agreement is “not final” and that the US could “drop bombs again” if the deal fails. Iranian parliament speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf told state media that his distrust of the US remains and that Iran “keeps its finger on the trigger.”
