In the early hours of Tuesday, Russia launched a massive wave of drone and missile attacks on Ukraine, resulting in at least five fatalities. According to police reports, three of the deceased were recovered from the rubble of a partially destroyed residential building in Kyiv, where rescue operations are ongoing for at least ten missing individuals.
The mayor of Kyiv reported dozens of injuries, including two children. A total of 21 people are being treated in hospitals. These attacks mark the third consecutive day that Ukraine has reported fatalities due to Russian strikes, following the end of a three-day ceasefire on Monday.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that more than 670 drones and 56 missiles targeted the country. This represents one of the largest assaults Russia has conducted since the onset of its full-scale invasion in 2022. The strikes hit over 180 locations across Ukraine and damaged more than 50 residential buildings.
Zelensky added that a “significant number” of the Russian drones and missiles were shot down, with an overall interception rate of 93 percent. He called for a just response to all these attacks and urged allies to hold Moscow accountable and maintain global sanctions.
