The strike hit the Shevchenko district, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The impact sparked a fire, and emergency crews were deployed. Kyiv Post correspondents reported several explosions shortly after 10:45 a.m., with thick smoke rising over parts of the city.
Attacks on Kyiv had already occurred overnight and in the early morning. In the Holosiivskyi district, drone debris fell on an open area and ignited a blaze, while a private house in the Solomianskyi district also caught fire. Two more people were injured in the morning attack in the region, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the military administration.
Since Thursday, Kyiv has been under an almost continuous drone siege. Russia has changed its tactics: instead of large swarms once or twice a week, waves now fly over Ukrainian airspace almost nonstop. The Ukrainian Air Force reported an average of about 188 drones per night from August 27 to 31 – in July, the figure for the same period was around 160 per night.
