As Spiegel reports, the body of a 25-year-old Romanian tourist was found in the rubble of the collapsed residential building in Görlitz. The search for two other missing persons – a 26-year-old woman from Romania and a 48-year-old man with Bulgarian and German citizenship – continues.

Sniffer dogs have alerted at two spots in the debris, a police spokesperson said. Since 4:30 a.m., crews have been digging there specifically, removing coarse debris like wooden beams and floor parts by hand. Police gave no information on the likelihood of survival but stressed that the search would continue until the two people are found.

The house, containing rental and holiday apartments, collapsed on Monday evening. People were initially reported missing; two holiday guests were still en route, and their whereabouts were quickly clarified. The cause of the accident remains unclear. Görlitz’s mayor, Octavian Ursu (CDU), spoke of a possible gas explosion. Police had already found a gas leak.
