According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russia is preparing to use the Oreshnik intercontinental ballistic missile on Ukrainian territory. It would be the third attack with this missile type since the start of Russia’s war of aggression in February 2022, as Spiegel reports.

Zelensky issued the warning against the backdrop of ongoing Russian air strikes on Ukraine. The Oreshnik missile can strike targets at great distances and is considered particularly difficult to intercept.

EuroPulse reported on May 23, 2026, about a similar warning by Zelensky of an Oreshnik attack on Kyiv (https://europulse.today/selenskyj-warnt-vor-russischem-raketenangriff-kiew-oreshnik/).
