Marcin Przydacz, head of Poland’s Bureau of International Policy, said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should apologize to Polish President Karol Nawrocki, the Kyiv Post reports. The dispute stems from Kyiv’s decision to name a military unit after the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).
The UPA fought against the Soviet Union during World War II and is held responsible in Poland for massacres of the Polish population in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia. The naming of the unit has significantly strained bilateral relations.
